I spent much of yesterday at Southwark Cathedral, from Evensong to Compline, praying, writing and exploring with my camera, and I’d like to share this sacred space with you.
Stained glass windows always fascinate me, especially more contemporary designs – and in the case of this cathedral, even the plain windows seem to speak…
Often when I come here I notice how approachable and welcoming the cathedral staff are. I feel much more at ease here than at Westminster Abbey or St Paul’s. Given that the crowds are smaller here, it is perhaps understandable that there is more space for friendly conversation, for time taken with each visitor, and there is also more silence for prayer.
Peace be with all who come here to pray.
