The gaze is unafraid of crossing lines
Imagination leaps ahead
Yearning sets one foot across,
restrained
by reason hanging on its heel,
reason, who draws all lines,
who wants to know before taking a risk,
reason, who secretly
hopes to
be convinced otherwise,
who dithers, delays, doubts,
who finally calls
on faith
for direction
Faith, who is unchained by
fear or convention,
selfishness, pride or conceit
Faith who will choose
what is true and honourable and pure
Reason trusts faith
when it cannot obey yearning or hope or
imagination
So the gaze turns inwards,
becomes still, expectant and clear
in anticipation
