My Soul Looks Back and Wonders

…how I got over.

I heard this sung today by the Soul Sanctuary Gospel Choir, at St James’s Piccadilly. And I wondered…

St James’s has a brilliant website, an abundance of resources and a noticeably great sense of humour, a sense of adventure, and a lot of warmth and kindness. What’s not to like…

I was glad to have pretty much accidentally wandered into the church today; I like the liturgy at St James’s – instead of making everyone say, “We are not worthy so much as to gather up the crumbs under thy Table” before Communion (which I hate and never say with everyone else in a service), the Reverend gave thanks to God for “considering us worthy to serve”. All of us. Whether the church agrees or not, God finds all of us worthy to serve…

The reading was important for me too –

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house there are many dwelling-places. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, so that where I am, there you may be also. And you know the way to the place where I am going.”

God is preparing a place for me. I don’t know yet what it is and where and how, but I can trust God who says, “There is a place, and I’m making it, so it will be good. Don’t worry!”…
