What do you see? A room full of sump oil! And since oil reflects differently than water, without distortions, the effect is rather hard to catch in a photograph. In the first photograph, only the white bit of the column is not a reflection. It took me a moment to realise that this is no surface one could stand on even when I was right in front of it! I took one photo to show the ‘audience perspective’ more clearly:
